And my de-stressing activities continue... actually these pix are not that recent..
I love making fondant shapes, and for my cousin's recent engagement in November, I made him a daisy-themed heart-shaped cake. Had to make the daisies days before so that they could have time to dry. I was using fondant, instead of gum paste, so the drying took longer.
I know..the flowers are a bit overwhelming, but I made a lot of them, so it's kinda wasting if I didn't use all of them up :)
I also love cheesecakes. These are made for my mini RCK (rombongan cik kiah) reunion last weekend, but of course I brought the big one for the RCK. The minis are for my brood. Nanti bising if they don't have any left. For cheescakes, Aina will always help me up with the crust base. It was all entirely her effort.
As for these cookies, Adam helped me to bake to bake them, as they were all for his school fund-raising activity. I just don't want him to just ask for donations, so it's better for him to start selling something. But somehow, it ended up that Mom had to sell these in my office!
And here is my first experiment with the so-called rainbow cake, yup, not enough colors and not arranged accordingly. Well, what the heck, as long it became a cake hehehe. It was for Amir's 9th birthday.
Aina made the blue race car while Mom did the yellow one. Aisha's car? Well, it was on the tracks...she was playing with it on the floor! :p
Finally the cuppies I made for Ariff and his parents anniversary in early September.
One thing I like about baking - my kids just love to help. One great activity for bonding!

Get it yourself!
Amir is playing on the PS2. Aisha is doing her thing with her teddies.
Amir : Aisha, boleh ambilkan maruku untuk Amir?
Aisha: Amirkan ada tangan, nose, mata, kaki...ambil sendiri lah!
Amir : Grrrrr...
Ermmm, since when Aisha tau nak jawab macam tu?

Bully?
A couple of days ago, while Mama tengah kelam kabut siapkan the big kids for school, tetiba Aisha opened her eyes and panggil Mama.
Aisha: Mom!
Mama: Why Aisha, nak susu ke?
Aisha: Mom tau tak, Amir kalau balik school selalu suruh Aisha ambil baju dia kat atas.
Mama: Then why didn't you tell Amir to do it himself?
Aisha: Aisha dah cakap dah, tapi dia suruh jugak.
Mama: Then just ignore dia!
Aisha: zzzzzz...
Mama: Lah! Mengigau ke?

Conversation with my Pumpkin 4
This morning while getting ready to work:
Mom: What dress should I wear today? Everything is still in the boxes.
Aisha: Mom nak pakai cantik-cantik because boss nak tengok ke?
Mom: Huh? My boss tak tengok my baju la..
Aisha: Boss mom boy or girl?
Mom: My boss is not a boy, he's a man.
Aisha: Huh? What man?
Mom: Man is a big boy, like mom is a woman for big girl. And Aisha is little, so you're a girl!
Aisha: NO! NO! NO! Aisha is a princess, and Mom is QUEEN!!
Huhuhu...I like!

Buzzzzzy time
First look, blogger has a new setup! Shows how much I have neglected this page.
Well, the past few months have been busy with moving out of our house to get away from the dusty renovation environment. Yup, finally we are changing the termite-infested parquet flooring on the upper floor to tiles. Bathrooms will have a make over as well since both have been leaking. Last but not least we are also tiling the backyard since cats love to leave their markings there. No more smelly back yard I hope!
And because of the huh-hah staying in a temporary apartment, Aina's birthday had to be celebrated small. She invited a couple of friends over for swimming, followed by makan-makan. Well, I made laksam, and since I couldn't bake (no oven provided there), I bought the famous chocolate cake bars from the market and added some decorations. That's the least Mama could do for Aina. Lucky the Tg Malim gang came over, so we had quite a little crowd :)
The instant cake! :)
Mak Ngah made this yummy caramel pudding!
We are moving back in this weekend, insya'Allah, just nice before Ramadhan starts.

Stress Buster
I came about a new passion
Baking that is
Well, more like cake decoration
Can hardly give it a miss.
I didn't take any course
The institute of youtube is always there
Always there for me to source
Ideas and howto's and all that you can spare.
Birthdays now are more memorable
Get to bake and decorate with the brood
They can choose to roll and doodle
Nothing beats the decorating mood!
Apams are easy to make, these are steamed.
I started with cupcakes
My first fondant attempt for Aina's birthday last year
Second attempt for Aisha's pre-birthday cake
Then Aisha's birthday cake
Finally decided to make some for my cousin's engagement hantaran
Doing this actually helped me handle my stress better :)

Ku? (Conversation with my Pumpkin 2)
Aisha: Mom, kalau Aisha besar dari Amir, Aisha boleh pergi school Amir?
Mom: Boleh, but you have to go to Tinta Emas first.
Aisha: Kalau Aisha pergi school Amir, nanti Aisha tak pandai buat homework macam Amir.
Mom: That's why you have to go to Tinta Emas, practise dulu.
Aisha: Mom, kalau Aisha besar dari Mom, Aisha school mana? Kuku Kurshiah ke?
Mom: Hehe.. You remember!

Septic Soles
Yes, you read it, they are indeed septic.
Adam got that infection after his camping trip in December. Apparently after seeing a specialist in Melaka his feet didn't get better. We had to see another specialist in Shah Alam. So Adam was ordered to stay home, no outdoor activities, no walking. So we were stuck at home on CNY break.
But of course, we got bored, so we went to the movies, and Adam got to be on wheelchair. Sungguh OKU. Now at least my kids appreciate what it's like to be wheelchair-bound.
After a week the infection dried up. So the skin specialist did some dead-skin-peeling.
Then liquid-nitrogen was sprayed to the dying cells to kill them off entirely (plus all the bacteria that were with them).
I hope those soles get better by the time we take the flight to SG next week.
p/s: can you believe it? The doctor's charges were RM340 just to do that little procedure. Adam, you better change your cita-cita from pediatrician to skin-specialist!

Birds & Bees 101
Today Amir asked about why Acik 'bleeds' when she's not even married. He thinks only married women bleed.
Now...Mama has got think hard and fast.
What shall I say? I know this would lead to a lot of questions from this 8 year old.
So here goes my story:
'Amir, all women bleed, no matter whether they are married or not'.
And of course he had to ask why.
'Every woman has an egg produced in her tummy every month. The egg needs to wait for another egg to produce babies. So when there's no partner egg, the blood will come out.'
'So mana egg satu lagi mom?'
Hmmmm...what shall I goreng without really twisting the fact?
'Err, the other egg is from the husband!'
So he rationalized 'so kalau no husband, darah keluar?'. By this time Aina who was listening quietly started to become dizzy. She cannot hear the mention of the word blood or anything related to that.
I said 'as long as there's no other egg to couple that egg then blood comes out'. Aina was covering her ears already.
Then came the dreaded question, 'so how the egg masuk the tummy mom?'
Guess what I said? 'How do you think it gets there?'
He said 'I know! Kiss!'
Thank God! We're gonna end this conversation soon!
'But macam mana egg tu masuk kalau kiss?'
Adoi, cepat Mama, think!
'Ehmmm, masuklah kalau kiss, that's why I never allow you guys to watch kissing scenes on tv! Nanti when you're slightly bigger we continue this discussion!' I just had to end it there. Adam never ask this sort of question. Luckily Amir accepted the explanation.
Next time I have to think harder I guess.
